Here are some of the main things TV journalists are looking for when considering coverage of a story:
What are the visuals? Will there be good video to show my audience? Stories with action are best. Avoid stories with “BOPSA” (a Bunch of People Sitting/Standing Around).
Is it timely? Does it relate to a subject that’s been in the news recently? Is it relevant?
Will there be good sound? Who will be available to interview? Will what they say be compelling or interesting?
